Can I Foster?

You may be more suitable than you think.

Many people rule themselves out of fostering before they ever speak to anyone.

They think they are too old, too young, too ordinary, too busy, too single, or that they need a certain type of house or background.

In reality, foster carers come from all walks of life.

You may be able to foster if:

  • You have a spare bedroom
  • You have the time and emotional space to care for a child
  • You are patient, reliable and willing to learn
  • You can offer a safe and stable home
  • You are ready to work as part of a wider team

You can be single, married or living with a partner. You can own your home or rent. You can have children, or no children. You can work, depending on the needs of the child and your availability. You do not need formal qualifications.

What matters most is your ability to offer care, consistency and commitment.

Every applicant goes through a full fostering assessment. This helps us understand your strengths, your household, your support network and the type of fostering that may be right for you.
